The lovable Isy Suttie is set to tour this year, with her show JACKPOT.

After a few years away, Isy Suttie returns to the stage with her brand-new show Jackpot, which will tour the UK from September 2022. Now, things have changed: she’s got children of her own and a partner who detests surprises. In her return to live stand-up, she asks whether it’s enough to try and find that buzz on mums’ weekends away or on family walks in the woods, and quite why she continues to hunt for it at all costs.

Ever since she can remember, she has been searching for ways to make her life more exciting: Ouija boards, exploring derelict houses and jumping off things for a bet. She often meets others who share the same love of pushing the boundaries: the Welsh taxi driver who found a mischievous way of brightening up his day, and a neighbour who created a network of tunnels beneath his house just for the fun of it.

All of this probably explains why Isy has grown up to be a multi-talented star who not only does stand-up but is also happy being a straight or comedy actor in many television plays, or even just providing a voiceover for a cartoon. She is also not restricted to performing in English, she appeared in the S4C Welsh learners programme Hwb as a Welsh learner (which she is in real life) in a regular sketch called "Y Wers Gymraeg" ("The Welsh Lesson"), starring her partner Elis James.

Hence, she has been seen as Dobby in Channel 4’s Peep Show, Esther in Shameless, Ally in Man Down, on Would I Lie To You, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Hypothetical, Q.I. and much more. Isy has been nominated for three British Comedy Awards and won a gold Sony Award for her BBC Radio 4 series Isy Suttie’s Love Letters. The paperback of her acclaimed second book, Jane Is Trying, was released in spring 2022.

Isy’s always searching for adventure in life, but now that she’s a mum with a partner who hates surprises, can she still find it? And why does she need it anyway? She has toured all over the world doing either as a singer or as a stand-up in places like as far apart as Edinburgh and Sydney. Now you can get a chance to see her perform live in her latest show “Jackpot” which tours in September from Newcastle to finishing off with very much a “home-town” gig at the Grand Pavilion in Matlock.

Ahead of his return to the UK/Ireland this week, Corb Lund has shared an acoustic video of 'Old Familiar Drunken Feeling' - see below. The track closes Lund's latest album El Viejo released in February, via New West Records, and which was deemed the 'Americana Album of the Month' by Uncut magazine. Commenting on the 'Old Familiar Drunken Feeling', Lund shared, " It's about taking a gummy bear, a THC gummy bear, when it first got legalized in Colorado, having to play a show that night. It was terrifying. If you're not a pot guy, it can be pretty disconcerting and your brain starts getting away on you and you have a bunch of weird paranoid thoughts ." El Viejo pays tribute to Lund’s late friend and mentor, the famed Canadian singer-songwriter Ian Tyson, who passed away 29 December, 2022. El Viejo was produced by Lund and recorded entirely in his living room in Lethbridge, AB with his band The Hurtin’ Albertans. El Viejo is Lund’s first album of original material since 2020’s critically acclaimed Agricultural Tragic , which was named an album of the year by the readers of No Depression. Gathering around his living room, Lund & Co. tapped into his most cherished musical influences of acoustic tone and lyrical aptitude — Marty Robbins, Kris Kristofferson, Bobbie Gentry, Jerry Reed. There is a common theme — possibly even a character thread — of the gambler, the outlaw who roams from place-to-place with no direction home. With the album, he has also created an ode to the notion of stripping everything down and letting the tape roll — simply capturing a moment of pure vulnerability and organic inspiration in real time. Much like his music, Lund is decidedly hard to define. The western Canadian singer-songwriter is an elusive artist — onstage, offstage, and in the studio — seamlessly weaving between the outlaw country, Western, and indie-folk realms with an honest curiosity and rowdy devotion to each. He was raised with the tried and true DIY sentiment of “if you want something done, you gotta do it yourself” launching his career recording in his basement, printing his own shirts, booking his own tours, being his own manager and publicist… whatever it took to get it done. Corb Lund has been touring Europe and is set to close out his run with headline shows with a sold-out show in London. Before moving onto to Manchester, Birkenhead, Dublin and Kilkenny. ‘Collaborators’ is a darkly comic satire of Stalinist Russia, with a descent from hilarity to tragedy that has rarely been portrayed quite so well on the stage – winning John Hodge the 2012 Olivier Award for Best Play. Now, The Rondo Theatre Company are thrilled to be working with BAFTA and Olivier award winning writer, John Hodge, to bring ‘Collaborators’ to the Rondo Theatre in Bath this coming week. Although the play is a work of fiction, it is inspired by true events from the life of Mikhail Bulgakov, who is best known for his novel ‘The Master and Margarita.’ It follows Bulgakov’s surreal journey as he is given the offer of a lifetime: write a play about Stalin’s early life, or else. Not something one easily turns down in 1930s Moscow! " For me ," says John Hodge, " Stalin and Bulgakov are a classic double act, the schemer and the innocent, the spider and the fly, playing out their comedy against a backdrop of one of the twentieth century’s defining horrors." Best known as the screenwriter for The Beach, Shallow Grave, and Trainspotting, John Hodge is involved in the Rondo Theatre Company’s production of ‘Collaborators’. " I was thrilled to learn that ‘Collaborators’ is to be staged at the lovely Rondo Theatre, " says John Hodge, " I have met the wonderful cast and I am really looking forward to this production in my adopted home town ." Speaking about the production, director Matt Nation said, " It’s been an incredible experience directing Collaborators alongside the award winning author - John Hodge has enthralled us all with his insights into the gestation of the play and it’s array of characters. Collaborators is a rare treat theatrically - simultaneously hilarious, poignant, tragic and thought provoking." " As a Bath resident himself, John has been wonderfully supportive of the show and we have been blessed with an excellent cast (- it's very much a Collaborative experience!) Indeed, we are all looking forward to unveiling what is undoubtedly a very special performance for the Rondo Theatre Company! " ‘Collaborators’ features a cast of 14 local actors from the Rondo Theatre Company, which has been the performing arm of the Rondo Theatre since 1982. The play will be performed at the Rondo Theatre, St. Saviours Road, Bath BA1 6RT, from Wednesday 19th to Saturday 22nd June 2024, 7.30pm. Playwright, John Hodge will be attending the performances on the Friday and Saturday nights to take part in a Q&A session after the shows. More information and tickets are available on the Rondo website . Bottom picture: The Rondo Cast with John Hodge
